Calling ALL Freebie Traders – I need your opinion on Mentoring Site Modifications

January 26, 2009

Hello one and all. First of all, thank you for all that you have done to make this blog what it is today. It is truly becoming the leading blog in the industry and the fact of the matter is that it would NOT be where it is today if it wasn't for you guys coming here and reading. You can have the best blog in the world, if no one cares to read it, it will go NOWHERE and it will do that fast.

Because this blog has been all about trying to provide you with the best resources I can come up with, I want your opinion on something that I believe will really make this blog even better. You probably know about my Free Mentoring Websites – The ones that I give to freebie traders to help them train their referrals. Well, the thing is, I want to take the mentoring websites to another level. I have a lot of ideas on how I can make them even better, but I believe that you probably have the best opinions on what could make it better for you.

I'm not going to tell you the things I have in mind, but I will tell you this – They are AWESOME! However, I don't want my opinions to skew the suggestions you might give.

So this is what I want from you. Lets put all of our heads together. I want you ALL to think about what YOUR ideal Freebie Mentoring Website would entail. Think about it long and hard. Let me rephrase this into a solid question: If you were to pay $1,000 for a Mentoring website, what would be the bells and whistles that you would want to be included. NOOO, I'm not going to be charging $1,000. I just want to inspire you to come up with some ideas that are outside the box. I want things that are so AMAZING that they don't make sense. I want to read your ideas and think – “MAN, THAT'S CLOSE TO IMPOSSIBLE. I LIKE IT!”, lol. Do you get my drift?

My coder will be working on putting together some stuff and I would like to give him a REAL challenge. Of course, I might not be able to do everything. But I am a firm believer that if you reach for the moon, you will end up at least around the stars.

So, Calling all big thinking Freebie Traders. Help me make your Wildest Freebie Mentoring Website dreams come through! Post your suggestions in the comments section below.

All right… a small step for a man but a big step for the humanity… or something thing like that. lol

Ok it might re design the concept but I would maybe like to see soem king of “matrix” concept add into a redesigned mentoring website.

Someting that will assure any sign in people that they will make money beause the next peson to join the network will be assign to them… while the “upline” person still makes somekind of commission wothout having to work for it… so that way it’s a WIN/WIN combination.

It’s kind of blury but I think this could be acheived.

Let me know If I can help you…

    • Hmm, that’s a very interesting concept Stefanomen. Thanks for the suggestion. The only problem I see with that is that in order to have something like, you would have to charge some kind of membership fee so that you can have the whole “upline” concept, unless I’m understanding you wrong. If I am, please elaborate so that I can get a better understanding.

    • stefanomen says:

Well, yes a small one time introducing fee, that would be transfert into the paypal account of the upline automatically. Then each time a new trader join the “matrix” following your personal link you then receive an amount. The new “member” will then be able to do the same thing after he would have green on site. That will allow each trader to earn twice the amount after only 1 trade. ex: I join and I pay (let’s say 20$) then I go green for you (you pay me back my 20$) so my only cost now is the greening fees… but you on your side will have earned 40$ instead of 20$ (the 40$ prize from the network – the referal’s pay 20$ = 20$ profits but because you received a 20$ introduction fee, you now profit 40$) get the idea? The first trade won’t be very profitable for a newbie but the intro fee will allow doubling profits on every new referal.

    • Wow, that is a very interesting idea, and it definitely isn’t impossible. I wonder what others think about it.

    • Jeremy says:

Maybe I don’t understand how it would work but I think it might be best suited for the intermediate to advanced traders. As a mentorship site I would prefer to keep the “system” as simple as possible. I’m afraid that this would add an additional level of complication that might scare some newbies off. Also, would they be willing to invest more now for a larger payout later? I would guess that most are wanting a larger payout now. That’s what kept me going when I got started.

      Hey Leslie,

You are always trying to outdo yourself. I like it.
One of the things that I would like to have on the mentoring site is a new logo. Maybe a header like your freebie traders site. Well not exactly like it but you get the idea. And I like how the background gives the site texture.
I was looking over your freebie traders site and I was focused on the Steps to success section. I would really like to see this on the mentoring site. I think it would give more of a training feel to the sites than they currently have. It would also allow for more interaction between the new traders and the trainers. I like how the training on your site shows you how to set up trades and shows the screenshots of the trade manager.
I know these ideas aren’t off the wall but you have a very nice site that is direct and straight to the point yet easy to understand and easy to follow.

That’s a very good idea. I actually thought about doing that. But I’m not too sure because some people who get the mentoring website don’t want to use FLR information. That’s kind of the reason why I did it the way it is, so that it can be somewhat generic so that people can use it either for FLR or outside of FLR. Maybe I should consider an FLR version and a non-FLR version. I’ll put some thought into this. Thanks for the suggestion!

I would also like to see a different header and a video tutorial on how to complete offers, and maybe a guest book.

    • Good suggestions. The entire site will be redesigned, so the header will be completely different. In terms of a guest book, I’ve leaned away from that because guestbooks seem to get a whole lot of spam recently and it would take more work from you in terms of moderating the guest book. Not a bad suggestion though. I like guestbooks (when they aren’t spammed). I had a bunch of sites with guestbooks and ended up taking them down because of all the porno stuff that gets posted, lol.

    • Jon says:

I was also wondering if you plan to up date the getting started section to include A4F.

    • Most definitely Jon, I am working on the A4F series of videos right now, so not to worry 🙂

On the website, I would love to see a step-by-step guide for completing offers so our referals can refer to this if needed, what would be really cool would be a Freebie site simulator, so our referals could actually see how the process worked! Another thing while your asking would be more Freebie’s 101 Education Center! Just some suggestions, but whatever you come up with I am sure will be earth shattering!

I would like to see this mentoring site be used to give new people step by step instructions for getting started. If it is FLR, it should show them how to join PPD (under their sponsor. It should somehow be interfaced with the sponsor so there is still communications, ie. maybe direct person back to sponsor for some of the info. Also it should make reference to the tutoring and rules on FLR and on PPD. No value in repeating that info on this site. Better to guide them to where to look for the info.

Some of the comments above also allude to this approach. The key is to make a solid guide for new people to follow to get through Method 1 and settled into Method 2. Most new people are looking for confirmation they are starting the right way. This could give them this reassurance while still having them bond with their sponsor/mentor.

Leslie-thanks so much for asking for suggestions-your site is great and you really have some innovative ideas! I am so thankful for all your help. You are going to do some great things!
    ideas for mentoring site

-more detail information on when traders get started-
ex-instant isn’t always instant, one credit site = offers adding up to 1 credit-I can give you more detail on this if you like.
    -screen shots for navigating flr
-basic info always give traders-step by step
-more faq answers-again -I can give some examples
-ability to customize a little more-perhaps page we can put some content on.
-info on offers, good -bad ex-media mogul-not crediting well etc.,
List of pww sites and the like
-promos from sites-that we are promoting-perhaps a banner for our featured sites
-page we could add additional training materials
-RSS feed ability to be imported from our blog
-ability to put an affiliate product on our site-related to trading making money online
-Not sure this is possible-but place for someone to enter email address and name to submit and get a response from us-would be really great if we could set up automated letter to go out.

    Hey Leslie,

You have gotten a lot of great suggestions so far.

Here is my suggestion 🙂 I would like you to install a script that will put each traders Trader Rating, and last 10 feedback comments on one of the mentor site pages.

Some of us do trade on multiple forums, so it would be even better if you can combine all the different Trader Ratings 🙂

Okay, now for my easy request: It would be nice to have a support ticket system on the mentor sties.

I can’t wait to see all the new additions.

    Leslie,
Create a “cheat sheet” that provides a short description of all the products and services (P&S) along with a 2-4 sentence summary of the terms of each agreement. I’ll give you two days. 🙂 Could be troublesome when they vary from site to site or when the P&S change their terms. But it would be a great resource for newbies. People like me spend hours researching before we feel comfortable buying. This would save us “type A’s” a lot of time.
Second, the website must have an integrated blog. Mentees need to have someplace to go to get “fed.” A blog where there are daily posts is a great place to do it. It keep them coming back to your site and its something that can be shared with thousands at the click of a button. Generating new posts will increase visits which will increase revenue – a second source of income outside of FT.
Create some kind of ring or network of sites/blogs that are linked together. Other blogs that I read do a great job of linking back to each other. Again, this helps them generate more hits while providing additional info to the newbie.
I have a couple other ideas but they are proprietary at this point. I’m not going to give you all my ideas… not yet anyway.

    • More good ideas. Some of which I’ve already thought about, and am thinking about implementing in a slightly different way. I’m not Fully sure how it will work, but I’m almost there. I have the concept in my mind and have to talk more about it with my coder. In terms of the “proprietary ideas”, they sound interesting. I have a few up my sleeves too 🙂

Hello, Leslie. I am excited to see that changes are anticipated with the website you so graciously give as a gift. One thing I find lacking in the present design is some guidance on how to get feedback on offers, e.g., the “PWW factor” as I call it.

Also, if we presently have one of your websites, will the new design be applied to our present website?

Looking forward to the new design!

    • Hi butterboy. Don’t worry, that part is already developed (in terms of the offer selection process). I still have to include the PWW factor, but it will be there.

In terms of the new design and how it applies to those that already have mentoring sites – I’m trying to figure out a system to deal with that now. This is not a regular upgrade, because the entire system is changing. Nothing about the structure will be the same. I’m trying to find a way to make it all happen though. I might have to hire someone to take care of that aspect. Rest assured though that I’ll make it as easy for you as possible 🙂

    Leslie,
I thought more the Freebie Site Simulator, and the training area, It would be nice to have some area of the website locked with a unique passcode to each site, this will initiate the contact between the person Visiting the site and the site owner, with contact this can always bring higher potential of referals actually working with you, Instead of just checking thru your site and leaving, they may contact you to get Free access to a specified area of your website Open Dialogue, plus the Site Simulator you wouldnt want everyone just coming to your site just to tryout and leave, because if you do pull this off this will be the only of its kind so the sites will just be used for that only, so if they have to contact you to get a genaric access code!! That would be Great!!

    • This could easily be done. The only problem would be that the mentor would have to learn the system. I try to make it as easy as possible so that those that aren’t too technical can still understand it. I’m thinking about making it with the option of doing that. I can have instructions on HOW to set that up, if they are interested. I do like the idea and am thinking seriously about it.

I would love to see a Live Help section, either in the form of chat or message board integrated into the site. I offer live help to my refs through AOL and Yahoo messenger, but I think providing it directly through the site would add a much more professional atmosphere to the site, and also make the ref feel more connected to the mentor. I found that when you eliminate all guesswork (For instance, the ref having to minimize the window, open AIM, and send the message, as opposed to staying right on the page they’re on and type a quick question) you get much more response.

I’ve e-mailed you about this but I love video tutorials! I think they are sooo helpful, I’d love to see a video tutorial for just about every aspect of freebie trading.

Another suggestion: A way for refs to post proof or at least post a quick “Thanks for the payment” or something like that, this could really help increase the number of refs who actively use the site. and build confidence in the mentor.

My other suggestion, which is the only one that may be a little out there, is to see if we could get some sort of kickbacks from the IFWs for sending them refs through our sites. For instance, if the IFWs could advertise for free, maybe be the “Featured Freebie Site” for a period of time, and the site owner could get a cashout bonus for every ref sent to that particular site. This would need to be developed more fully but could be an extra revenue-earner for the site owners without a huge amount of effort, and also without the up-front costs that some of the other suggestions would involve.

In that same vein, maybe some sort of link to the IFW’s support system, so that the mentor could keep a little better tabs on their ref’s MCRs and be a little more involved in helping them get credit when they’re having trouble. I think this would really set apart the people who have these sites from other random traders on the Freebie trading forums. Again, that would take some engineering but I think it could be a real help, if it is somehow possible.

If I was paying $1000 for the site, these are features I would find to be of real value.

That’s what I’ve got for now!

    • Very good suggestions SBDowntown. It will definitely have the option to add a live help section, although I’m not sure if I will include that standard. The way I will have it set up, you can add all those features if you know how to. There won’t be too many restrictions where that is concerned.

In terms of video tutorials, do not worry, that is my main focus. I’m working on all the video now and will try to have EVERYTHING in a video option. It will take some doing, but I’m pushing for that.

In terms of the kickbacks, that would be pretty complicated. It would involve having access to all the freebie sites, which would be hard to negotiate, especially since there are so many popping up left and right.

      Great suggestions though!

Leslie, thanks for getting me started in all this mentoring stuff.
Question – I joined LINKSHARE and was wondering if i could add some affiliate banners to my mentoring site? Is this something that can be done. also once you create the site will i be able to edit it any of the info.

    • Yep, it is definitely something you could add. The challenge for me will be making videos to show you what all you can do. When it’s released, I will probably list resources where you can learn how to add stuff until I make all the videos to show. It will definitely take some time though to do all the video stuff. But you will basically have the ability to add ANYTHING you can think of, if you know how to. There will only be a few minor limitations, but for the most part, the sky is the limit 🙂

Hi butterboy.

Hi Leslie. I have one of your mentoring websites, and the thing I love about it is that it is step by step, very simple to follow. In putting in a lot of thought into this question, I would maybe like to see something similar to TFX’s referral banks. It would be very cool if as newbies complete a site, their new link gets added to the ref banks. Hopefully, if traffic is decent, by the time a newbie is ready to go to method 2, several of their sites are completed by the newer people coming in, and these greens are paid out to the newbie without them having to pay the referral. I started freebie trading 4 months ago, and by the time I went to method 2, all the traffic had dried up and I had to fight for every possible ref I got. It was extremely hard to keep up with trading when the few newbies that were coming in ended up with traders that had the higher Tr numbers. I think that giving back, as all would be doing by contributing to the ref banks, helps all of the new business, which in return draws more and more newbies to trading. It kind of levels the playing field for those of us who have not been trading a long time, so we too can see how good it feels to make some real money at this. Just a thought, but idk, what do you think?
