What is a Sticky?

Before I get into how to make a sticky work for you, allow me to explain what a sticky is. A sticky is when you trade thread gets placed to the top of a subforum. This maximizes your exposure, because most people look at the top of the forum to find individuals to pay them. A sticky at the Free Lunch Room Forum costs $25 per day and can be purchased for a maximum of 3 consecutive days.

Preparing for your Sticky

The days before your sticky are just as important as the actual day(s) of your sticky. It is a time of preparation – a time that determines how successful your sticky days will be in a very significant way. Here are some helpful tips for those preparation days:

  1. Know what order of sites you would recommend for a New Trader. Most new traders come to the forums looking for guidance. They are excited to get started and might not have a full understanding of what sites they should do to enhance their success. For more on choosing sites, read my article entitled How to Choose Freebie Sites.
  2. Put together a set of Message Templates. There are two ways to respond to a new trader's inquiry. You can type out a new message every time and give it the personal touch. This sounds like a nice way, but it can be EXTREMELY time-consuming, especially if you are going to be a successful trader with many inquires (which is hopefully the goal). The second involves taking the time to put together quality message templates that you can copy and paste. Many people thinks that this is not a good way because it isn't as personal. I would tend to DISAGREE. Start thinking like a successful trader – one that receives MANY inquires. This also helps you to test what works best and make your messages more efficient over time.
  3. Prepare your Trade Thread for Success. Getting someone to visit your trade thread is just Part 1 of the process. The second involves converting that traffic into a quality referral. Your trade thread accomplishes that. Try to make it as efficient as possible. Not too much information, but enough to impress. Show them that you are a real person – one that knows exactly what he/she is doing and one that can help them be successful. Remember, a new trader wants to know that you have what it takes to make them successful. Read more about setting up your trade thread in my article “Do NOT read this or your trade thread will make you more money“.
  4. Make sure to have enough money in your Paypal account. I usually recommend keeping $300 in your account at all times. I know this might not always be possible. Personally, I try to keep at least $500 at all times.

Your Sticky Days

Ok, so the days are finally here. If you put in the work before hand, you should be ready to go. Try to make yourself as available as possible. Responding to posts as quick as possible is very essential over these days. I try to respond to all inquires over my sticky days within a half hour (which doesn't always happen, but at least I try). I'm not going to say much about your actual sticky days, because if you prepared the days before, you are good to go.

After Your Sticky Days

The days following your sticky is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Your sticky should give you some serious momentum. You need to ride that momentum as much as possible. One important thing that you HAVE TO do is to make a trophy thread. As much as I don't like showing off my earnings, this is what works when it comes to making money online. People need proof. If you made $1000 in 1 week during your sticky, BROADCAST it to the World! Let the world know as soon as possible. This can be done in the Trophy Case at the Free Lunch Room, on your blog, website or profile on a social networking site. When people see your success, this will result in them wanting to work with you, which will result in more money, which will result in a bigger trophy thread, resulting in more people wanting to work with you . . . well, I think you get the point.
