Browse through these forums, paying attention to the number of members on each of these forums, the number of posts in the forum, and also try and get information like the age of the forum.

This is necessary to know as joining an inactive forum will not be of much help. In fact, it will only waste your time, effort and energy. So look for forums which are active and have a large amount of members participating in them, so you can get more visitors to notice you.

Of course, this method won't work if you don't have your own website, so I would recommend getting one first.
