Why you should use forums to market your Freebie Mentoring Website

If you have a Freebie Mentoring Website, you need to find ways to start promoting it to get traffic and users to it. One of the most effective and successful methods to attract users and traffic to your Freebie Mentoring Website is through Forum Marketing.

I know what you are thinking – I already do that! Maybe you’ve been to the Free Lunch Room, Anything4free or some other Freebie Trading Forum. You've gotten referrals at those forums and are satisfied with how it is going. That's great. But that is not what I’m talking about. This strategy does NOT involve Freebie Trading Forums.

Internet Forum Marketing is a form of online marketing which is used by individuals as well as business owners to market their business on the internet by participating in online discussion groups. Remember, these are not Freebie Trading Forums that I am talking about, but I am referring to other forums in the make money niche, which include ‘Work at Home forums’. However, I'm not limiting it to such forums. I know of someone who used a hair care forum to advertise her website and was able to set up 45 trades over the span of 2 days. This forum was on a topic she enjoyed, and it had a subforum dealing with ways to make money.

How can forum marketing be effective?

Forum marketing is a strong method of online promotion, yet it is ignored by many website owners. Since all good forums follow a no-spam policy, you have to make sure that you create a valid user profile and participate in the forum by leaving useful posts. As a registered member of the forums, you can create your own signature with a link to your Freebie Mentoring Website in the signature. By helping others and leaving useful posts, you can get other users to notice you and the link in your signature, allowing them to visit your website.

Remember to pay attention to the rules

Effective Forum Marketing is all about following the forum rules and paying attention to its policies. If you try to spam the forum with blatant advertising of your website, it will not help at all. In fact, even a single spammy post which directly advertises your market or business website can lead you to be banned from that forum. Forums often have a policy of banning specific IP addresses, which means that once your user is banned, you will not be able to create another user on the same forum from your PC.

Effective Forum Marketing

Here are some tips which will help you succeed in your website marketing effort using forums:

  • Contribute something useful – By leaving helpful comments in the on-going discussion which can help the forum members in one way or the other is a great way of getting noticed.
  • Learn from other members – By participating in discussion groups and online forums in the make money niche, you can get ideas of the ways other people are using to promote their websites. You also get to know of problems which other members might have faced in the past and you can then learn from their mistakes.
  • Get Links – You should try and participate in forums which allow you to place a link to your website in your profile or in the signature. This means that whenever you leave a post, a link to your website is automatically added with it, allowing other users to visit the site. This is not only good to drive traffic and users to your website but it is also counts as a back link to your website by the search engines.

Finding relevant forums

When looking for forums, you should use a search engine to find the appropriate forum for your marketing efforts. Use keywords like ‘forum’, ‘discussion group’ or ‘online community’ with the theme of your website to find relevant results. You should get a decent number of results related to your topic. Browse through these forums, paying attention to the number of members on each of these forums, the number of posts in the forum, and also try and get information like the age of the forum.

This is necessary to know as joining an inactive forum will not be of much help. In fact, it will only waste your time, effort and energy. So look for forums which are active and have a large amount of members participating in them, so you can get more visitors to notice you.

Of course, this method won't work if you don't have your own website, so I would recommend getting one first.

Have you been marketing at forums? If so, I would love to hear how it worked for you. If not – JUST DO IT! Then let me know.
